To start with, treatment should be carried out 3 times per day.

For extreme allergic symptoms, treatment can be repeated more often. As soon as the symptoms have abated, the number of the treatments can be reduced to 2 per day. If the results improve, you can cut this down to 1 per day. It is important to continue treatment for at least 1 to 2 weeks in order to maintain the results. It is best to perform the treatment in the morning before or after breakfast and repeat it again before you go to bed. If you need 3 treatments a day, just take Bionase with you. If you know which type of pollen causes your allergy, consult the pollen calender and start the Bionase® treatment 1 week beforehand so that the allergic symptoms can be prevented or eliminated. Depending on the intensity of the allergy, perform treatment 2 to 3 times per day.

Interaction and Side Effects

There are no known harmful interactions with drugs. You can use Bionase® along with tropical nasal therapies, oral antihistamines, corticosteroids or decongestants. Sufferers with severe cases of Allergic Rhinitis can use Bionase® more than three times a day.

What is phototherapy

Bionase® phototherapy is a recently developed method of treatment for allergic reactions. It uses a visible light source (red light, 660 nm) at a single wave length. This requires the use of sophisticated light-emitting diodes, which are able to emit exactly the right source of light.

The desired effects, that is, suppression of the allergic symptoms and a reduction in the sensitivity of the mucous membrane of the nose, will only take place at this wave length. Up until now these diodes have been prohibitively expensive and it was only possible to carry out phototherapy at specialised centres. However, the development of Bionase now means that it is possible for allergy sufferers themselves to carry out this highly effective, 4½ minutes long treatment.

How to use the Bionase®

Each Treatment last for 4½ minutes during which time a red light is emitted by a source. By pressing the start button on the Bionase®, the light source will be switched on and after 4½ minutes switched off again, so that treatment times are exactly the same each time.
